Where to eat on the Amalfi Coast: 7 restaurants to try
What could be better than a good meal after a walk in a fairy-tale place like the Amalfi Coast?
During our tour we tasted countless traditional dishes; each little village has its own specialties.
We decided to leave you our personal list of places to eat.
SORRENTO
1. Ristorante Fuoro: in the narrow alleys of Sorrento, surrounded by souvenir stalls of lemons, you can find Ristorante Fuoro.
For our first lunch on the coast we couldn’t miss the typical buffalo mozzarella; then we had tagliolini with Sorrento lemon cream, parsley and prawns.
2. Ristornante o’Parrucchiano: as soon as we arrived at Ristorante o’Parrucchiano we were immediately struck by the beauty and originality of this place.
Completely immersed in a “forest” of lemons, there are outdoor tables; while the interior is a huge glass greenhouse.
The food lived up to the location: we started with the chef’s mixed starters, which included a small panzerotto, zucchini flower, lemon mozzarella, gratin calamari, prawns in lemon leaf and a plate of anchovies from Cetara on toasted bread.
For a first course we decided to share the linguine “the two enemies” (octopus and sea urchin) and finally a sea bream fillet with citrus.
NERANO
3. Ristorante Mariagrazia: they say that the famous Pasta alla Nerano was invented right here, by Mariagrazia, who in the early 1900s prepared delicacies for the many fishermen who landed here in Nerano and for notable guests who appreciated her traditional yet refined cuisine.
The spaghetti alla Nerano are made with zucchini and, of course, other ingredients jealously kept by the family.
POSITANO
4. Rosticceria I Capricci: a slightly different setting for our dinner in Positano was Rosticceria I Capricci.
An impromptu dinner after a day at the beach, hunger made us stop here to eat a cuoppo of prawns and calamari and a fried pizza.
We opted for the informal side, a little terrace with sea view and stools, but if you prefer they also have the trattoria area with tables.
AMALFI
5. Taverna Buonvicino: in the heart of Amalfi you find Taverna Buonvicino.
A warm, picturesque atmosphere, set in a small square just behind the cathedral.
After several starters we were both captivated by the Slow Food linguine with anchovy sauce, Giffoni hazelnuts and sfusato amalfitano lemons — delicious!
RAVELLO
6. Il Flauto di Pan: in Ravello we treated ourselves to a spectacular dinner inside Villa Cimbrone, where the Michelin-starred Il Flauto di Pan is located.
Not reachable by car, but only by walking through the streets of Ravello until you reach the villa gate; seeing the kiosk lit up in the evening and reserved for so few people is magical.
Then you reach the terrace overlooking the Gulf of Amalfi with the full moon as your light guiding the sea.
We had the tasting menu; I won’t go into detail about the dishes and will just leave you with a few photos.
CETARA
7. Ristorante Acquapazza: a stop in Cetara to eat the famous anchovies couldn’t be missed, and we chose Ristorante Acquapazza.
We started by ordering toasted bread with anchovies and lemon zest, then spaghetti with anchovy sauce and trofie with Cetara-style pesto.
In the center of the table a small bottle of anchovy sauce to add to each dish to taste!
