Eastern Sicily: 5 dream hotels

Are you about to discover Sicily, but haven’t chosen where to stay yet?

If you’re looking for refined hotels that are meticulously detailed and maybe a little extravagant, grab a pen and paper and jot down these **5 dream hotels.**

DONNA CARMELA: RESORT & LODGE

Donna Carmela Resort & Lodge was love at first sight—or rather, first click! As soon as I found it online, I thought, “I absolutely must stay here!” I even completely rearranged part of our tour just to sleep here.

Donna Carmela offers various types of accommodation, including beautiful Lodges nestled in nature with private heated lava stone jacuzzis. Right after stepping through the French door onto our veranda, we briefly imagined we were in the middle of a tropical forest!

In addition to the Lodges, you can stay in refined rooms; there is a beautiful pool and a restaurant (La Cucina di Donna Carmela) that is certainly worth a dinner.

The resort is located 30km from Catania, at the foot of Mount Etna.

IANCU: CHARME APARTMENTS

For our stay in Taormina, we chose this apartment overlooking the gulf. The highlight of Iancu is definitely the terrace: a breathtaking sea view complete with a jacuzzi, a complimentary bottle of wine, and well-deserved relaxation after walking through the streets of the historic center.

Inside the apartment, there is also a kitchen and a swimming pool available to all guests.

The apartment is located 200m from the cable car to Taormina center and 800m from Isola Bella.

ZASH: COUNTRY BOUTIQUE HOTEL

The Zash Country Boutique immediately impressed us with its **freshness and tranquility**. Our room was all in shades of white, and after the black sand of Etna, it provided a very satisfying sense of rest.

We quickly recharged with a swim in the beautiful pool available to guests and indulged in a delicious fruit cocktail.

In addition to classic rooms, Zash offers rooms with large windows immersed in the green palm grove and even suites with private pools among Sicilian citrus trees.

But the best highlight, in our opinion, is the breakfast room—which transforms into a restaurant in the evening—designed around and inside an ancient vat where wine was once fermented.

The Boutique hotel is located 30km from Catania, at the foot of Mount Etna.

ASMUNDO DI GISIRA: ART MARKET LIVING BOUTIQUE

Asmundo di Gisira Art Market Living Boutique is definitely the most **extravagant accommodation** we stayed in during our Eastern Sicily tour. The Boutique hotel is located inside the historic Asmundo di Gisira palace right in the center of Catania.

It features 11 fabulous rooms, 6 of which are called “Art Rooms” due to their decor, mirrors, artwork, and names inspired by Greek mythology or Sicilian history.

As soon as we arrived, we were welcomed with a wonderful tour of the palace and all its artwork. We found a Sicilian-style Catwoman outside the breakfast room, a huge flamingo, cartoon paintings, and even Spider-Man on the exterior wall visible from the beautiful Piazza Mazzini.

Since it’s in the center of Catania, you can walk to all the city’s main attractions, but obviously, parking will be difficult.

MASSERIA DELLA VOLPE: LUXURY ECO-RESORT

We couldn’t skip a Masseria on our Sicilian trip, so we chose Masseria della Volpe for 2 nights.

Nestled in the Noto Valley, this Luxury Eco-Resort is converted from a small rural village, renovated to immerse guests in comfort and charm, mixed with a taste of home.

A beautiful pool to cool off on warm Sicilian days, a spa with an enviable menu, and a viewing area with a Berber tent to enjoy reading a book surrounded only by the sounds of nature.

The Masseria is located in the center of Val di Noto, making it a strategic point for seeing Noto (20km), the most famous beaches like Calamosche (20km), driving down to Marzamemi (20km), or heading up to Ragusa (45km).
